How to reach Kedarnath

Once can reach this sacred abode by roadways buses that are easily accessible from Uttarkashi, Chamba, New Tehri, Tilwara, Agastyamuni, Chandrapuri, Guptkashi, Sonprayag and Gourikund. However, Rudraprayag can only be visited while returning from Badrinath Dham as this cannot be reached whilst you are on the way to Kedarnath Dham. You can also travel via Srinagar to the divine destination and other road goes to Sri Badrinath Dham. The nearest Railway station is at Rishikesh, 225 Kms. And the closest Airport to the Dham is- Jolly Grant, Dehradun which is 240 Kilometers.

How to reach Badrinath

By Airways: The Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Badrinath Dham. It is situated very close to Dehradun city which is about 317 kilometres from Badrinath temple. One can also reach this one of the Charm Dham spots by helicopter, and the helicopter journey is hardly 100 kilometre.

By Train: The nearest railway stations to Badrinath are at Rishikesh (297 km), Haridwar (324 km) and Kotadwar (327 km). However, Haridwar is the best option to board a train if you are visiting Badrinath Dham as it is linked by umpteen trains from other parts of India.

By Bus: You can comfortably reach Badrinath by bus, taxi or private cars as it is accessible by road as well. Badrinath is positioned at a distance of 525 Kilometres from the capital of India- Delhi & 296 Km from Rishikesh city. Regular and private buses are also a good option to reach Badrinath from Delhi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.

How to reach Gangotri :

You can reach Gangotri from the place- Uttarkashi from the roadway buses through hills and mountains in 5 hours. While travelling towards Gangotri shrine, River Bhagirathi can be seen on your right side. After 8 PM driving is not allowed in the hill roads.

How To reach Yamunotri :

If you are planning to travel to this highly idolized Hindu pilgrimage then you can reach there by air (flight), railway or roadways (buses, cars, autos and cabs).

By Airways: The nearest airport is- Jolly Grant at Dehradun which is situated at a distance of 210 km from the town of Yamunotri. You can get regular flights to the Jolly Grant Airport from the capital of India- Delhi. Once you get down, hire a cab or taxi to reach Yamunotri or Namgawn.

By Railways (Trains): If you are travelling by train to the holy place- Yamunotri, reach Dehradun railway station first. The Dehradun railway station is approx 172 km from Yamunotri. After arriving at Dehradun Railway station, you can easily get cabs for Yamunotri.

By Road (By Bus): Yamunotri is nicely linked via road to all the chief tourist places in Uttarakhand. You will get regular buses to Hanuman Chatti which is approx 4 km Rishikesh is also connected to it and is at a distance of 213 km and Dehradun at 172 km from Yamunotri. Nawgaon is a major link at a distance of 171 KM from Haridwar.

1- केदारनाथ धाम :

केदारनाथ मन्दिर भारत के उत्तराखण्ड राज्य के रूद्रप्रयाग जिले में स्थित है। उत्तराखण्ड में हिमालय पर्वत की गोद में केदारनाथ मन्दिर बारह ज्योतिर्लिंग में सम्मिलित होने के साथ चार धाम और पंच केदार में से भी एक है। यहाँ की प्रतिकूल जलवायु के कारण यह मन्दिर अप्रैल से नवंबर माह के मध्‍य ही दर्शन के लिए खुलता है। पत्‍थरों से बने कत्यूरी शैली से बने इस मन्दिर के बारे में कहा जाता है कि इसका निर्माण पाण्डव वंश के जनमेजय ने कराया था। यहाँ स्थित स्वयम्भू शिवलिंग अति प्राचीन है। आदि शंकराचार्य ने इस मन्दिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाया।

2- बद्रीनाथ धाम :

बद्रीनाथ अथवा बद्रीनारायण मन्दिर भारतीय राज्य उत्तराखण्ड के चमोली जनपद में अलकनन्दा नदी के तट पर स्थित एक हिन्दू मन्दिर है। यह हिंदू देवता विष्णु को समर्पित मंदिर है और यह स्थान इस धर्म में वर्णित सर्वाधिक पवित्र स्थानों, चार धामों, में से एक यह एक प्राचीन मंदिर है जिसका निर्माण ७वीं-९वीं सदी में होने के प्रमाण मिलते हैं। मन्दिर के नाम पर ही इसके इर्द-गिर्द बसे नगर को भी बद्रीनाथ ही कहा जाता है। भौगोलिक दृष्टि से यह स्थान हिमालय पर्वतमाला के ऊँचे शिखरों के मध्य, गढ़वाल क्षेत्र में, समुद्र तल से ३,१३३ मीटर (१०,२७९ फ़ीट) की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। जाड़ों की ऋतु में हिमालयी क्षेत्र की रूक्ष मौसमी दशाओं के कारण मन्दिर वर्ष के छह महीनों (अप्रैल के अंत से लेकर नवम्बर की शुरुआत तक) की सीमित अवधि के लिए ही खुला रहता है। यह भारत के कुछ सबसे व्यस्त तीर्थस्थानों में से एक है; २०१२ में यहाँ लगभग १०.६ लाख तीर्थयात्रियों का आगमन दर्ज किया गया था।

3- गंगोत्री धाम :

गंगोत्री गंगा नदी का उद्गम स्थान है। गंगाजी का मंदिर, समुद्र तल से 3042 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। भागीरथी के दाहिने ओर का परिवेश अत्यंत आकर्षक एवं मनोहारी है। यह स्थान उत्तरकाशी से 100 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है। गंगा मैया के मंदिर का निर्माण गोरखा कमांडर अमर सिंह थापा द्वारा 18 वी शताब्दी के शुरूआत में किया गया था वर्तमान मंदिर का पुननिर्माण जयपुर के राजघराने द्वारा किया गया था। प्रत्येक वर्ष मई से अक्टूबर के महीनो के बीच पतित पावनी गंगा मैंया के दर्शन करने के लिए लाखो श्रद्धालु तीर्थयात्री यहां आते है। यमुनोत्री की ही तरह गंगोत्री का पतित पावन मंदिर भी अक्षय तृतीया के पावन पर्व पर खुलता है और दीपावली के दिन मंदिर के कपाट बंद होते है।

4- यमुनोत्री धाम :

यमुनोत्री उत्तरकाशी जिले में समुद्रतल से 3235 मी. ऊंचाई पर स्थित एक मंदिर है।देवी यमुना की तीर्थस्थली, यमुना नदी के स्रोत पर स्थित है। यह तीर्थ गढवाल हिमालय के पश्चिमी भाग में स्थित है। इसके शीर्ष पर बंदरपूंछ चोटी (3615 मी) गंगोत्री के सामने स्थित है। यमुनोत्री का वास्तविक स्रोत बर्फ की जमी हुई एक झील और हिमनद (चंपासर ग्लेसियर) है जो समुद्र तल से 4421 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर कालिंद पर्वत पर स्थित है। इस स्थान से लगभग 1 किमी आगे जाना संभव नहीं है क्योंकि यहां मार्ग अत्यधिक दुर्गम है। यही कारण है कि देवी का मंदिर पहाडी के तल पर स्थित है। देवी यमुना माता के मंदिर का निर्माण, टिहरी गढवाल के महाराजा प्रताप शाह द्वारा किया गया था। अत्यधिक संकरी-पतली युमना काजल हिम शीतल है। यमुना के इस जल की परिशुद्धता, निष्कलुशता एवं पवित्रता के कारण भक्तजनों के ह्दय में यमुना के प्रति अगाध श्रद्धा और भक्ति उमड पड़ती है।

Char Dham Yatra 2020

Chardham of Uttarakhand has four sanctify shrines- Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath and darshan of all these divine shrines can be done by helicopter. There are various kinds of package offered by the helicopter service providers based on a number of nights & the shrines assimilated in the package. The details are given below. 1. Chardham Yatra (All four shrines) by helicopter, 04 nights/05 days

Guidelines for helicopter yatra:

• Maximum 04 -06 Passengers will be allowed in 01 Helicopter depending upon the passenger’s weight which should be less than 400 kgs.
• Only 5 kg of luggage per passenger will be permitted due to limited space in the helicopter. Passengers bringing excess baggage would not be allowed to take the same in the chopper. Passengers should carry only handbags as suitcases cannot be kept in the helicopter.
• Children above the age of 2 years will be considered a full ticket.
• There is no provision of concession to children or senior citizens for helicopter yatra.

• Well, it is pronounced as both Haridwar & Hardwar. Haridwar means the door of Hari (Lord Vishnu) & Hardwar means the door Of Shiva, as the gateway to the Four Shrines/Dham of Uttrakhand.
• This is the place where India’s national river or you can say Hindus Holy river Ganga flows.
• The Kumbh Mela is also celebrated here which happens once every 12 years. It is the largest spiritual gathering in the world where millions of devotees take a holy dip in the sacred water. It is believed that the river turns itself into sanctity spots filled with primordial amrita at the historic moment of the Maha Kumbh Mela. The story behind this Kumbh Mela was “During Samudra Manthan, a pot (nectar of immortality or Amrit) appears and both Devas and Asuras(demons)want to grab it. After that Devas ran to save the nectar from Asuras and trying to hide it. This fight takes 12 days( which is equal to 12 years as for humans) and during this fight, the drop of nectar fell into four different places on earth (Haridwar, Ujjain, Nasik, and Allahabad). That’s why this Kumbh Mela celebrates every 12 years in these places.
• Daksh Mahadev Temple- The mythological story about is this place is that King Daksha Prajapati, father of Lord Shiva’s wife Sati performed yagna at this place, but he did not invite Shiva. Sati, in anger, burnt herself in the yagna kund. This provoked Mahadev to destroy Daksha Yagna & behead the king, but when the gods praised him back to life. Daksha Mahadev temple is thus a tribute to this legend.
• Haridwar always reminds as major shakti peeth for the devotees because it is believed that the heart and navel of goddess Sati fell in the region where the Maya Devi temple stands today and thus it is sometimes referred to as a Shakti Peetha.
• Chandi Devi Temple is the place where the army chief Chanda-Munda of a local demon King Shumbh-Nishumbha was killed by Goddess Chandi here after which the place got the name, Chandi Devi.
• Har-Ki-Pauri which means “the footstep of God ”. Legend says that this is the place where the Lord Vishnu Left his footprint. It is believed the bathing in the Har ki Pauri washes all you away from sins.
